Suderbyn Ecovillage is located on Swedish island of Gotland, in the middle of the Baltic Sea. We are just 8km south of Visby, the main town of the island, along the west coast.
Travel directions to Gotland:
There are two harbours in Sweden to take a ferry from: Oskarshamn (the more Southern option of the two), and Nynashamn (closer to Stockholm). We recommend booking a ferry in advance.
Once you have arrived on Gotland, the rest is relatively easy
We have two shared biogas cars available for use. You can ask us to pick you up at the ferry, but please let us know in advance. Prices are per km driven, and a pickup at the ferry is usually around 70 SEK.
From Visby you need to take Bus 10 in the direction Klintehamn-Burgsvik. Bus stop is just outside the ferry terminal*. Check the bus schedule in advance. Bus ride costs 35 SEK and can usually be paid only in cash on-board. Currently there are COVID-19 measures in place which imply that you need to buy your bus ticket in advance. We recommend using the mobile app Ridango to buy a ticket. Get off at “Suderbys 1” (you should press STOP button when the name appears on the screen). Walk another 250 meters in the same direction as the bus, along the bicycle path. You will see a barn with the Suderbyn sign close to the road. Here we are!
If you let us know about your arrival time in advance, someone will be ready to greet you. Let us know if you want someone to wait for you at the bus stop.
Cycle along route 140 southwards, you can also make a detour through Fridhem and Högklint by Högklintsvägen
Drive route 140 southwards. You will pass the town Vibble, continue to drive until you see the sign "Suderbys Herrgård", CONTINUE to drive a bit more. On the right side you will see the sign "Tofta skjutfält" and on the left you will see our big barn with the sign Suderbyn Ecovillage.
