The new Strategic EVS project, conceived in the cooperation between ReLEARN from Sweden and Metaversity from Russia, focuses on different ways of reconciliation in the fields where polarisation commonly happens. We aim to look at the points of polarisation integrally – from understanding the interplay of one's inner identities, to relations between people, groups, ideologies and cultures. The project represents a cycle of a) social Laboratories for a wider group of experts and b) a few short-term EVS programs in order to test and actualise the social techniques developed throughout the Laboratories.
The Laboratories will bring experts and catalysts from different sectors, countries and fields, relevant to the addressed problems; as well they will be joined by young people from different polarised areas. A few of the young people, after their experience at the Laboratory will go for a 2-months EVS to deepen the work started at the Laboratory, combined as well with other practical, administrative and social experience. The EVS programs will be held in multicultural communities working professionally with youth and education.
Each cycle of a Laboratory and EVS, complimenting each other, focuses on one of the defined fields where polarisation easily happens:
– national identity vs cosmopolitanism
– technology vs radical ecology
– activism vs inner development
In a holistic perspective these fields are not contradictory but complementary, however in our society they often become fields of dichotomy. The Polyversity Lab project explores the possibility to benefit from the diversity, to reconcile dichotomies in one's own personality, between people, in groups and among cultures.
These fields are only examples of many other areas of polarisation, they were selected due to work towards reconciliation, and their are multiple other areas. These fields were selected due to their active presence in the work of partners. On a daily basis we observe the integral nature of these dichotomies and the ease with which people divide in these categories into "us and them".
The overall goal of the project is to foster a dialogue, to develop and mainstream social innovations and humanitarian technologies allowing us, as a diverse society, work together for a common desired future not only despite differences between us, but moreover using the advantage of the differences.
